Robert M. Bennett Obituary
After a long and courageous battle with ALS, Bob passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022, at the age of 63. Loving father of Ryan Bennett and Austin (Tori) Bennett. Proud grandpa of Sophie and Connor. Son of Carol Maas and the late Robert Bennett. Brother of Carl (Nancy), Lawrence (Kathryn), and the late Thomas Bennett. Former husband of Carla Bennett. Fiancé of Debra Galle.
Bob began his career as a police officer with the Village of Menomonee Falls, and subsequently with the Village of West Milwaukee, where he spent a significant portion of his career as a detective, and ultimately retired from the department as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. Bob's passion for law enforcement did not end there, as he then worked many years as a patrolman on Big Cedar Lake, while finishing off his long and distinguished career as a security officer for Froedtert hospital.
Bob was disciplined, meticulous, and organized in all respects, and had an incredible ability to connect with people and build relationships, traits that made him such an effective police officer, handyman, friend, and dad. Bob's sense of humor and easy-going attitude attracted many to him, as evidenced by his numerous visits from friends, family, and colleagues during the final stages of his life. Bob's smile lit up the room, and his wit and love for conversation brought joy to all that surrounded him. Bob loved riding his Harleys, pheasant hunting, cleaning, vacuuming, and just spending time with friends and family (and then vacuuming again after they left). Bob left a big mark on the world and words cannot express how much he will be missed.
Visitation will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls on Wednesday, May 18th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with service at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the ALS Association would be greatly appreciated. In addition, the Bennett family and friends extend their sincere gratitude for all the love and care provided by The Congregational Home, Legacy Hospice, Community Memorial Hospital, Kathy Hospice, and Froedtert Hospital. Your compassion and dedication to comforting Bob during his darkest days will forever be remembered and cherished.
