Patricia Louise Nissen Obituary
Patricia Louise Nissen (nee Doudt), 79, of Menomonee Falls passed away peacefully June 2, 2022 from ALS with family by her side. Pat was preceded in death by her ex-husband Boynton L. "Bud" Nissen in March 2022.
Pat was loving mother to Mark (Mary Ullrich), Todd (Denise), and Lisa (Bobby) DePonte. She is also survived by her loving brothers and sisters and their families; Charlie (Ruthie) Doudt, Rick (Sharon) Doudt, and Deb (John) Fabrycki. Pat is also survived by her Brittany dogs, Sabrina and Ana along with dozens of their offspring scattered around the country and bringing joy to many.
Patricia was born in Duluth, MN in 1943, daughter of Ruggles and Betty Doudt (nee Bailey), and shortly thereafter moved to Milwaukee. She was a tomboy in her youth and through her parents developed a love for baseball, dogs, and music. All were close to her heart until the day she passed. Pat never missed a Brewers game on TV and incredibly wound up passing away on Lou Gehrig's (ALS) Day in Major League Baseball.
She worked at Marc's Big Boy before she and Bud followed their dream and bought a mom and pop hardware store in northern Wisconsin. Later, Pat continued her education and became executive director of HUD in Park Falls, WI. They eventually got tired of the Wisconsin winters and moved to Missouri where she led the St. Charles HUD office. She took up breeding Morgan horses and as she got older switched to breeding Brittanys. Pat moved to Arizona in 2016 before returning to Wisconsin and family in 2020.
Known for her sense of humor and feistiness, she was never afraid to speak her mind. Pat treated all people as equals, never held a grudge, and was treasured by friends and family.
A special thank you to Capri Communities, Allay Hospice and the ALS Association of Wisconsin for incredible care during her final years. A celebration of mom's life will be planned for later this summer.
The family is asking that donations be made in her name to ALS of Wisconsin at https://www.als.org.
