Norman C. Hovila Obituary

Went to heaven peacefully at age 88 on September 8, 2022. Beloved husband of M. Katherine (nee Nurmela) for 66 years. Loving father of Sharon (Paul) Winter, Rochelle (Jim) Beine, Laura (Doug) Rupp, Gary (Debi) Hovila and Janet Wright. Cherished grandfather of 11 and 5 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Melvina (the late Bill) Rowe.

Norman and his future bride were both raised in Upper Michigan but met in Milwaukee where he was a machinist at Evinrude Motors for 38 years. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, was an avid runner and qualified for the Boston Marathon, twice. Norman was a man of faith, and proud of his Finnish heritage, particularly "Sisu", the characteristic Finns believe gives them grit and perseverance during life's challenging times.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 17 from 10:30AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:30AM at Schmidt & Bartelt – Menomonee Falls; N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave. Private burial will take place in Covington, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Norman's name to the Honor Flight are greatly appreciated.
