Luella Jeanne Lakich Obituary
(Nee Rye) Born 7-2-1930 to Isaac & Sara Rye of Kingsford, Michigan. Survived by husband of 71 years Milosh (Mike) Lakich, son David (Terri) Lakich, daughters Jeanne (David) Mayefske, and Karen (Milan) Matovich. Grandchildren Mark (Kate) and Luke (Chrissy) Mayefske; Isaac, Erin and Daniel Lakich; Mara and Alexander Matovich. Great-grandchildren Gemma and Owen Mayefske; Emery and Briar Mayefske; Averie and Irelynn Lakich. Sister Barbara (the late Richard) Mackie, Bozeman, MT, and sister-in-law Donna Rye, Pickford, MI. Further survived by many dear family members and friends. Preceded in death by brother Donald Rye and parents.
A member of United Methodist Church of the Pines, Minocqua, WI, and long-time former member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee, WI.
Luella enjoyed socializing with the "Between Friends" group and her quilt club. She was very active at United Methodist Church of the Pines, including the UMWomen and the Lydia Circle. Luella loved to read, play solitaire on her laptop, and do Sudoku puzzles. Her family was convinced she would have been a big winner on Wheel of Fortune. Her hand-quilting was exceptional and her quilts are treasured by the family.
Visitation on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Funeral Home from 4 PM until the time of Service at 7PM. Memorials may be given in her honor to United Methodist Church of the Pines, 415 Chippewa St., Minocqua, WI 54548.
