Lillian H. Gross Obituary
Gross, Lillian "Lily" (nee Hoffmann), Lily passed peacefully into God's Eternal Kingdom on December 20, 2023 at the age of 98.
Lily was raised in Cudahy, WI and left her home at age 18, moved to a Boarding House in Milwaukee, where she wrote many letters to a soldier who had been in the Marines; that soldier, Harold Gross became her husband in February 1947.
She and Harold raised their family of 6 children in Menomonee Falls, WI. They attended every sporting event that their active family participated in. They were involved in many ways at various Catholic churches in the Falls and finally ending up at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They were married for 40 years.
Lucky Lil as she was known by friends and family alike, always had many people around her kitchen table. She earned her nickname because she enjoyed playing cards with her card club for 40+ years, whom she met while working at Harley Davidson as an Executive Assistant during World War II.
She enjoyed participating in the "Off Broadway Players", where she was a director and performer as well. She was a member of the Kitchen Band, which delighted the faces of many in nursing homes.
Lily was an avid reader and read over 50 books a year and was without a doubt, the best Gin rummy, Sheepshead and Shutbox player in all the land! Left to cherish her amazing spirit are her children, Thomas (Michelle), David (Kerry), Michael (Karen), daughter-in-law Arlette, her grandchildren, Heather (Dave) Packenham, Shaun Gross, Tracey Spurlock, Chris (Katie) Gross, David (Kate) Gross, Adam (Courtnay) Gross, Jordan (Laurie) Gross, Kelsey (Mark) Siegel, Parker (Carolyn) Gross, Connor (fiance Elizabeth) Gross, Julia (Rich) Nichols, Dan (Nina) Gross, Joe Gross, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Her family is left to carry on her beautiful legacy.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Gross, sons, John and Hal Gross and daughter, Jane Gross.
The Memorial Mass celebrating our faith and hope in the promised Glory of the Lord's Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at St. Anthony the Hermit Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls, WI. Visitation will begin at 9:30am until time of Memorial Mass at 11:30am. Private burial to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
