Irma Miller Obituary
A beautiful soul has returned home, one who's spirit carries on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all who have had the opportunity to know her. Irma, born April 7, 1926 departed this world in her sleep July 22, 2022 at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of James Miller, and the loving mother of four children, Raymond (Chris), Kathleen (Dick), Carol (Gary), and Michael (Dianna). She was the grandmother to Jeanna (Jason), Jim (Tiff), Lori (Genyk), Tom (Becca), Carrie (Gerald), Mike (Kelly), and great grandmother of Liam, Faith, Gabe, Marley, Savannah, and Luke. Irma was the second of three children, Robert the eldest, and Helen the youngest. Their parents Wilhelm and Carolina Glemser were first generation German immigrants traveling to the US at the beginning of the 20th century in search of a better life. All while making a home in America they remained close to their family back in Germany. Until the time of her death, Irma continued that close family relationship with her German relatives, talking with her cousin Ursula and Ursula's family by phone and letter. She loved having the chance to work on her German. Irma Married Jim in 1945 at the end of World War II. Jim served in the US Coast Guard during the war. He later went on to work for the city in the forestry department, and finally made his career as a Milwaukee police officer. Irma worked as an office worker and as a full-time mother of four. Her loving nature, intelligence, and belief in social social justice was always an inspiration and her optimism in life carried her through many health issues and difficult times. Irma was loved by all that knew her, and her beautiful spirit will truly be missed. A private "Celebration of Life" will take place at a later date.
