She went on to work as a secretary and general office work from 1946 until 1951. Ione married John Urban on August 11, 1951 and they both then worked on their farm and raised their family.. Ione was a hard working farmers wife. She was a wonderful cook and was famous for her applesauce rye bread. After moving from the farm, she enjoyed living at the Gables in Germantown. She was one of the original tenants. She made many new friends and loved to share her cooking and baked goods with friends and neighbors. She also loved doing crafts. She went from independent living, to assisted living and then finally memory care.
The family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care she received over the past years at the Gables. Also for the care she received from the Allay Hospice Care staff. Ione will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit.
At the request of Ione, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
