Helmut H. Thomzik Obituary
Menomonee Falls-Born to Eternal Life peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the age of 93.
Loving husband of the late Katharina Thomzik for 64 years, beloved mother of Walter (Barbara) Thomzik and Lori (Christopher) Montezon. Cherished Oma of Eileen (Kyle) Baldwin, Elizabeth (Svetlana) Ozminkowski, Valerie (Daniel Setzer) Thomzik, Steven (Laura) Ozminkowski, and Chris (Patrick Carter) Montezon. Ur (Great) Opa of Sloane and Merrick Baldwin and Colton, Skylar, Carson and Sawyer Ozminkowski. Dear sister of the late Maria (Max) Hoefler. Further survived by his many relatives and friends.
Born in East Prussia, Helmut arrived in America in 1952. He was drafted into the US Army in 1953 where he received his US citizenship. After meeting in the Jefferson Hall in Milwaukee, he was married to Katharina in 1956 in a double wedding they shared with Katharina's sister and brother-in-law. Since 1990, he was an active member of the Milwaukee Donauschwaben. Here he became an expert grilling chef of chickens and Spanferkel, which the family also enjoyed at special occasions. With a love to dance, he and Katharina enjoyed spinning on the dance floor to a polka or waltz. He shared that joy with his children and grandchildren. As he took early retirement after 32 years with Briggs and Stratton in 1988, he was able to share his time and talents with his family and friends. This brought great joy to his life, as was his love of videotaping. Being able to watch the recordings of weddings, his children's and grandchildren's special moments, and the trips that he and Katharina took is a blessing to all. He had a love of gardening which all in his neighborhood benefitted from. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies. He was an extremely hard worker who would do anything for anyone. A devout Roman Catholic, he drew comfort from the mass and the rosary.
A special thank you to the dedicated and caring angels at Alexian Village Assisted Living, Health Center, and Horizon Hospice.
