Gerald Elmer Schiesel Obituary
Jerry, at the age of 84, died peacefully in his Glendale home of nearly 58 years on April 21, 2024, with his family by his side. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Karen (née Grunwaldt), who departed this earth on April 17, 2012.
Jerry was born on July 8, 1939, in the Town of Milwaukee to Frank and Stella (née Paul) Schiesel. After completing a tour of duty with the National Guard, he served as a distinguished member of the Glendale Fire Department for over a quarter century until his retirement in 1993. An active member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whitefish Bay from childhood, Jerry served the Lord in many capacities over the course of his lifetime and could always be counted on to be in his "pew" every Sunday. A fixture in the Glendale community, Jerry was well known for his unconditional friendliness, love of gardening and landscaping, genuine sense of humor, affection for animals (both domestic and wild), and his willingness to help anyone in need.
Jerry is survived by his three children Marcy (Mario) Angeli, Mark (Rebecca) and Matthew (Susana) Schiesel, his niece, Elyse Grunwaldt, his grandchildren Julianne (Taylor Siegworth) Angeli, Jennifer (Simon) Rabas, Stacie, Jamie, and Justin Schiesel, Morgan and Madeline Steffes, his great-grandchildren Jonah and Elijah Rabas, and countless friends.
The visitation will be on Friday, April 26th from 2:30 to 6:00 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 6021 N Santa Monica Blvd, Whitefish Bay, WI 53217, followed by a funeral service at 6:30 PM and a private burial on Saturday morning, April 27th. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church are encouraged.
