In January of 1957, Ed began a 30 year career in the public relations department of the American Bowling Congress. From 1958 to 1970, he was the editor of the Bowling Magazine, the organization's national publication. In 1984 when the ABC and the Women's International Bowling Congress opened the Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Ed served as the shrine's promotion director. He retired in 1987 and immediately joined the ticket office staff of the St. Louis Cardinals. It was a dream come true for he had been a Cardinals fan since he was 9 years old. Earlier in Milwaukee, he had been a part-time ticket seller for the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers and this experience paved the way to a 15 year affiliation with the Cardinals. What he enjoyed the most was managing the club's spring training ticket office in St. Petersburg, Florida, an assignment he had for 7 years. He retired in 2002 when he and his wife moved to Menomonee Falls to be closer to their family.
Ed was a World War II veteran, serving as a yeoman in the Navy. He was a lifetime collector of baseball memorabilia. He was a longtime member of the Society for Baseball Research. He loved to golf, bowl, play gin rummy and nothing excited him more than watching the stretch run of a thoroughbred horse race.
The Marcou Family would like to give a "Special Thanks" to the Riverview Village Senior Living and to Castle Hospice for all the care they gave to "Mr. Ed" these past couple months.
