He was predeceased by: his parents, Nancy Sell (Powell) and Gerald Sell; his parents-in-law, Margaret and Roger Schierl; and his brothers, Randy and Terry Ernst.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Schierl; his children, Jacinda Thiele (Steve) and Annie Lee (Jason); his grandchildren, Dominic, Andrew, Evan, Thomas Thiele, Norah, Natalie and Naomi Lee; his stepmother Joan Sell; his siblings, Jerry Sell (Alice), Kay Knorr (Greg), John Sell (Cindy), Laurie Kettner, Jeff Sell (Linda), Kim Bowers (Kurt), Scott Ernst (Dee), Jim Sell (Marge), Lynne Dorn (Kevin), Chris Sell (Jeanne) and Bill Sell (Olga); and his in-laws, Dave Schierl (Jeanne), Debbie Spielbauer (Mike), Mary Resch (Joe), Tony Schierl (Cherie) and Larry Schierl (Lisa). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations can be made to St. Mary Catholic Schools in Neenah, Roncalli Catholic Schools in Manitowoc, St. Mary's Menasha Legacy or Church Restoration Funds, and a special organization close to Joe's heart, Robin's Nest, an organization that supports local cancer patients and their families.
