He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Walter, Sadie Grapentine and Geraldine LaVoie; and his uncle Steve Grapentine. He is survived by: his parents, Robert Grapentine and Sharron Grapentine (Kernan); his children, Jared Grapentine and Samantha Sammons-Grapentine; his grandchildren, Christopher Zierer and Olivia Hargrove; his siblings, Robert Grapentine (Gina), Kelly Prosser (Hugh), David Grapentine (Janine), Jill Sheets (Steve) and Jennifer Smith (Michael); and his nieces and nephews, Andrew, Marissa, Brady, Emma Grapentine, Emily Smits, Jor Grapentine, Crystal, Peyton, Harper Brandt, James VanDenHeuvel, Connor, Riley Wehmeyer, Ty, Dominick Sheets, Kaitlyn and Ian Smith. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
