She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth V. Waltzer Heruth and Albert E. Heruth; her husband Richard Ralph Schmitz; her brothers, Leslie, Richard and Ronald; and her grandson Eric.
She is survived by: her children, Kurt R. Schmitz (Kazue), Columbus of Georgia, Kristi R. Schrampfer (Kurt), Stuart P. Schmitz (Lori) and Steven J. Schmitz (Michelyn); her grandchildren, Anthony, Emily, Paul, Kate, Marie, David, Hannah, Anna, Mark and Katherine; and her great grandchildren, Caleb and Eleanor.
