He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Arthur and Frieda Wellman (Bandi); his wife Adeline Thompson; his stepson Jeffrey; and his sister Eldora Kundert.

He is survived by: his sons, Nathan Wellman of Blanchardville and James Wellman (Blanche) of Medford; his stepsons, Gary Williams of Joshua Tree and Bill Williams of Millston, Wisconsin; and also, Arla Wagner (Paul) of Lansing, Monica and Hans. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
