He is survived by: his wife Ladine; his children, Alex and Taylor Hoolhorst McDermott of Dixon, Tennessee; his stepdaughters, Jessica Sampy (Mamadou) of Madison, Wisconsin and Rachel Smith of Madison, Wisconsin; and his siblings, Mary Noble (Sean), Elizabeth Russell (Gerry) and Jeff McDermott (Nina). He is also survived by six grandchildren.
