He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Howery and Loey Howery (Shepherd); his wife Betty Johnson; his grandson Lukas Steven Howery; his sister Alice Tillie Dodge (Vernon "Bud"); and his brothers-in-law, Jim "Vinny" Caruso and John Baldwin.

He is survived by: his sons, Craig Howery (Sharen), Steve Howery (Lorna), Tom Howery (Terri) and Jeffrey Howery (Shannon); his grandchildren, Erinn Kolk (Joe), Peter Howery, Cassie Galbraith (Josh), Ben Howery (Stephanie), Alex Howery, Chloe Medenblik (Michael), Lydia, Seth and Eli Howery; his great grandchildren, Nora, Joseph Jr. Kolk, Rylee, Dakota Howery, Violet, Brooks Galbraith and Aurora Medenblik; his stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth Bratz (Chris Loy), Preston Bratz (Morgan) and Wyatt Loy; his sister-in-law Virginia Baldwin; his sisters, Doris Caruso and Judy Pierce (Dave); his great great grandchildren, Malakai Bratz and Carter Thomas; and his pet Duffy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
