He is survived by: his spouse Geneieve Krueger; his children, William John Cowan (Joan) of Eau Claire, Cindy Lorene Jerome (Jason) of West Salem and Gary Allen Cowan (Nancy) of New Lisbon; his siblings, James Cowan of Kenosha and Mary Bertschinger of East Troy; his grandchildren, Scott Pellegrin, Stacie Cowan, Andrew Cowan, Brandon Beilke (Kaytlyn), Ciana Beilke, Kinsey Smith, Jacob Smith (Jessica), Chance Smith, Mallory Cowan and Garrison Cowan; and his great grandchildren, Makenzie Caldwell, Tori Cowan, Khloe Cowan and Ruby Smith. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
