He was predeceased by: his wife Norene Rutherford; his son Clyde Rutherford; his parents, Clemma Rutherford and James Rutherford; and his siblings, Frank, Carl, Fred, John Rutherford, Betty Colvin and Grace Morton.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca White (Patrick Sajdera), Regina Sage (Carl) of Mauston, Travis Gilbert (Kelly Titus) of Buena Vista and Jana Rutherford of Portage, Wisconsin.; and his siblings, Rose Dubson, Nancy Melton of Clinton and Lloyd Rutherford (Gloria) of Springfield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
