It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sophia Ann Smrz (Marshfield, Wisconsin), who passed away on September 22, 2023, at the age of 17, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her great-grandparents, Harold, Betty Richardson and Evangeline Hasselberger; and her great-uncles and great-aunts, Mary Ann Grassl, Marjorie Singer, Alice Liebe, Marilyn Hellmich, Jeanette Smrz, Eugene Smrz, Wesley Spreda, John Gaddini and Dennis Richardson.
She is survived by: her parents, Jesse Smrz and Kathryn Smrz (Richardson); her sister Olivia Smrz; her great-grandparent Alvin Hasselberger (Rhinelander); her grandparents, Jim, Mary Ann Smrz (Junction City), Rick and Jolice Richardson (Rhinelander); her aunts and uncles, Jane (John), Jill (John), Joanne Richardson (Spencer), Bob (Jessie) and Matt Richardson (Junction City); her cousins, James Wottreng, Anne Altmann (Mike), Eric Worzalla, Nicole Wottreng, Sam Worzalla (Lucreca), Frank Weigel, Jacob Weigel, Nathan Richardson, Alayna Richardson and Aubrey Richardson; and her close friend Austyn Widmann. She is also survived by many great aunt and uncles, second and third cousins, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be put towards a scholarship memorial fund to be established in Sophia's name.
