He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Bergs and Marcella Bergs (Rausch); his sister Carmen Griffith; and his father-in-law Luke Stenzel, Jr.. He is survived by: his former wife Sandra Stenzel; his wife Sandy Bergs; his siblings, Darlene Jansen (Michael), Charles Bergs (Sharon), Kronenwetter, Matthew Bergs (Karen Dawson) and Daniel Bergs (Mary); his mother-in-law Priscilla Stenzel; and his brother-in-law Randall Stenzel (Jean). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
