He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank A. Konieczny and Sophia Konieczny (Haider); and his siblings, Tom, Leon, Frank, Stanley, Margaret and Agnes.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne K. Szczech; his children, Leon (Tom Abbott) of Sanford, Jean Heideman (Perry) of Milwaukee, George E. (Cindy) of Chili, Mary Williams (Dan) and Donna Hayes (Tom) of Marshfield; and his grandchildren, Joe Konieczny (Jen), Jake Konieczny (Heather), Justin Heideman (Adrienne), Rachel Karlin (Tony), Caitlin Heideman, Kali Ditolla (Mike), Alexis Harris (Eric), Kyle Williams, Kirsten Bucki (Jake) and Sean Hayes (Ashley). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in George's name to Columbus Catholic Schools or the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
