He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sr. Maurer and Hedwig Maurer (Yungwirth); his wife Lois Niemann; his grandson Adam Steiner; his son-in-law Michael Wolf; and his siblings, Alois "Al" Maurer, Francis "Frank" Maurer, Henry Maurer, Marie Jensen, Wilfred Maurer, John Maurer Jr. and Katherine Pankratz.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Steiner (Steven) of Stratford, Michael Maurer of Marshfield, Mark Maurer of Tomahawk and Donna Schreiner (James) of Milladore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the American Legion Hall - Marshfield (2100 S Maple Ave, Marshfield, WI 54449). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
