He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie Ress (Hamus) and Charles Ress Sr.; his brother DuWayne Lester Ress; his nephew Todd Wayne Ress; and his parents-in-law, Robert, Ann Rollins, Duane Rollins, David Lavey, Marlene Wesenberg, Arnold "Doc" Wesenberg and Tom Pernsteiner.
He is survived by: his friends, Handle and Chips; his wife Shirley; his children, Kevin Ress (Nicole Nohl-Ress), De Pere and Keri McCormick (Joe); his grandchildren, Kyle (Megan Sprang), Sabrina (Chris Simonis), Cassie, Maddi (Aaron Callahan), Kylie and Evan; his great grandchildren, Juniper and Jasper; his brothers, Roger Ress (Carol) and Jerry Ress (Dianne); and his siblings-in-law, Rita Rollins, Bev Lavey, Carolyn Wesenberg, Verlyn Rollins (Frieda), Betty Lou Mahoney (Donald), Bonnie Weber (Dale), Karen Pernsteiner, Jerry Rollins (Carol) and Denny Rollins (Sharon). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In 1973, he received the "Mackie Plaque" award for his outstanding contributions to area sports.
