He was predeceased by: his parents, Waino Kovala and Lilly Kovala (Maki); and his brother-in-law Roy Tesser. He is survived by: his wife Mavis; his children, Duane Kovala (Bistra) of Minneapolis, MN, Betsy Wacker (Michael) of Chippewa Falls and Penny Laube (Dean) of Fall Creek; his grandchildren, Victor, Martin Kovala, Angellica Osburn (Danial), Travis, Brock and Eli Laube; his great grandchild Linkin; and his siblings, Alice Tesser of Duluth, MN, Raymond Kovala (Marilyn) of Highbridge and Joyce Smith (Jim) of Eben, MI. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred toward establishing an educational scholarship in Don's name.
