She was predeceased by: her parents, James McCandless and Opal McCandless (Holsworth); her husband Andy Hornung; and her siblings, Gail Rice and Gary McCandless.

She is survived by: her children, Jeremy Hornung (Kristie), Nicole Skrzypchak (Brandon) and Steffanie Salber (Ben); her grandchildren, Charlotte Hornung, Piper, Ripley Skrzypchak, Bridget and Grant Salber; and her brother James McCandless (Carol). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Sandy's name.
