With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Wayne Mertens of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Mertens and Constance Kadow Mertens; his parents-in-law, Leo and Marcella Samz; and his brothers-in-law, Gerald Schmidt and Donald Samz.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Samz of Luke's Catholic Church; his children, Cathy Paulson (Rick) and Scott Mertens (Laurie); his grandchildren, Bryanna Ashenbrener (Max) of Manitowoc and Lexie Richter (Ryan) of Manitowoc; his stepgrandchildren, Arielle Dahlgren, Bianca and Katie Krause; his great grandchildren, Paisley, Brecken, Bickley Aschenbrener and Graham Richter; his brother Donald Mertens (Marlene); and his sisters-in-law, Gloria Schmidt and Gloria Samz. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (1121 N 14th St, Manitowoc, WI 54220). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
