She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Borgwardt and Erna Borgwardt (Fischer); her husband Howard E. Schmill; her son Thomas; her parents-in-law, John and Etta Schmill; her brother Howard; and her siblings-in-law, Betty Borgwardt, Kenneth and Joan Schmill.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy A. Schmill, Greg R. Schmill (Renee) and Patti L. Kumar (Mukesh) of Canton, MI; her granddaughters, Angela Hohenstein (Ben), Rebekah Strong (Pastor Jason) of Fairbanks, AK, Stephanie Alsteen (Chad) of Spring Valley, CA and Kimberly Duve (Eric); and her great grandchildren, Mara, Gabriella Strong, Emma and Henry Duve. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
