She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Alter and Irma Alter (Meyer); and her brother-in-law Robert Schmidt. She is survived by: her sister Audrey Schmidt. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews, nine grand nieces and nephews, and two great-grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
