He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Stelzer and Anna Stelzer (Tisler); and his siblings, Charles Stelzer, Donald Stelzer and LaVern Kabat.

He is survived by: his former wife Lois Brey; his son Joseph C. Stelzer; his wife Judith Stelzer; his stepdaughters, Jessica Meyer (Paul), Antibes and France; his siblings, Kathryn Nowak of Milwaukee, Ann Schleh and Le Roy Stelzer of Greenwood; his mother-in-law Marcella Krall; and the mother of his child Lois Kubsh. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wisconsin Parkinson's Association.
