He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Behnke and Esther Behnke (Reimer); his siblings, Willard Behnke (Eunice), Harold Behnke (Geraldine), Evelyn Carstens (Emil), Elmira Preston (Charles), Doris Mae Laabs (Leroy) and Delores Eickert; his siblings-in-law, John Wallander (Pam), Raymond Wallander (Ellie), Kenneth Wallander, Al Wallander and Janet Wallander; and his son-in-law Mark Haupt.
He is survived by: his wife Diane E. Wallander; his children, Julie Endries (Tim), Carol Worley (Tim), Sharon Zippperer (Scott), Barb Behnke, Lois Beth (Brian) and David Behnke (Michelle); his grandchildren, Evan Haupt (Jenni), Lindsay Krage (Zach), Brianna Haupt, Alyssa Truong (Kevin), Logan Worley, Sean Zipperer (Teresa), Seth Zipperer (HaLeigh), Zach Behnke (Melyssa), Brandon Behnke (Catherine), Emma Steinbrecker and Nathan Steinbrecker; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Sonnabend (Gene), Robert Eickert, Donald Wallander (Betty) and Charlotte Wallander. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; one sister.
