He was predeceased by: his parents, Erwin Gaterman and Gladys Gaterman (Anderson); his wife Janet M. Broehm; his brother William Gaterman II; and his sister-in-law Bernice Dufano (Richard).

He is survived by: his children, David Gaterman and Debbie Wenzel (Jerry); his grandchildren, Brett Wenzel (Clare) and Marilyn Sincock (Tyler); his great grandchildren, Brycen, Berkeley and Matthew; and his nephew William Gaterman III. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
