He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Samz and Shirley Samz (Hronek); his brothers-in-law, Thomas Haese and Michael Ryan; his niece Kayla Samz; and his godfather Paul Dewane.

He is survived by: his siblings, Julie Ryan of Waunakee, Sandra Haese (Dan Zachek) of Valders, Robert Samz (Karen) of Two Rivers, Ellie Meyer (Rick) of Newton and Bernie Samz (Debbie) of Mishicot; his nieces and nephews, Michael Ryan (Margaret LaBorde), Andy Haese (Jennifer), Kevin Haese (Michelle), Kelly Litersky (Justin), Cory Samz, Jared Meyer (Jessica Hodkiewicz), Christopher Meyer (Whitney) and Mitchell Samz (Olivia); and his godmother Elaine Dewane. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
