He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Elaine (Bestul); his stepgrandchild Brianna Walter; his great grandchildren, Camyrn, Callie Pethke, Addison, Hailey, Blake Claussen, Emersyn, Bauer, Jensyn Ambrose, Raelyn, Bryce Balthazor, Makieyela, Mallex, MaHayleigha Raisler, Joseph Pethke and Brayden Wendt; his siblings-in-law, Clarence Riddle and Ardella Pethke; his brother Marvin Pethke (June); his brother-in-law James Bestul; his siblings, Edwin (Lorina), Erwin, William Jr. (Lucille), Edna Riddle, Alvin (Alice), Ruby Piotter (Elmer), Arthur, Melvin (Rosetta) and Ralph Bestul; his sisters-in-law, Arlene Peters and Mary Lou Bestul; his grandson Ryan Pethke; and his daughter-in-law Bonny. He was also cherished by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
