He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Kim; his daughters, Shelby Jo Thoma (Jacob Frenche) and Courtney Dean Torrie Reynolds (Mike Wronski); his stepsons, Jeremy Stichman (Kyle Allen), Philip Stichman (Crystal) and Michael Stichman (Alicia); his grandchildren, Jameson, Jordan, Jurnee and Connor; his mother Beverly Thoma; his siblings, Elroy Thoma (Kim), Jeff Thoma (Krystle), Todd Thoma (Chris) and Wendy Leeman (Matt); his mother-in-law Sheri Krueger (Charles Kutchenriter); his godchildren, Carlie Wilson (Zach), Kasey Thoma (Tiffany), Tyler Zehren, Brandon Thoma, Brandi Blum, Dominic Thoma and Maycie Brooks; his close friends, Randy, Tony, Eric and Lance; his pet Cooper; his father Elroy Thoma; his sister Carla Heidger; his father-in-law Marlin Krueger; his stepson Kristofor Stichman; and his great-niece Olivia Wilson. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at First State Bank under the Joe Thoma Benefit.
