He was predeceased by: his grandson Joshua Hass; and his sister-in-law Marcia Rivers. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette; his children, David Rivers (Diane), Jan Hass (Jim), Mark Rivers, Cheryl Knight (Chris), Laura O'Brien and Karen Konrad; his siblings, Gerrie Holfeldt (Gary), Anne Coggins (Hank) and Wayne Rivers; and his brother-in-law Donald Henderickx. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
