He was predeceased by: his parents, Cal Royston and Kay Royston Schultz (Puder); his stepfather Otto Schultz; his grandparents, Stella, Richard Royston, Helen and George Puder; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Ullsvik and Tom Young.

He is survived by: his wife Bev Royston; his children, Bryan Royston (Janelle), Emily Royston (Alex Muehlbauer) and Brittany Bancroft (Tim); his grandchildren, Cody Royston (Ashley), Bailey Royston (Troy Showers), Sunny Royston, Madison and Everly Bancroft; his great grandchildren, Logan and Emery Royston; his sister Susan Ullsvik; his stepbrothers, John Schultz (Patti) and Alan Schultz; his siblings-in-law, Bob Eisele (Susan Brackett), James Eisele (Georgia), John Eisele (Tansel), Gerald "Jerry" Hiley (Jackie) and Marianne Young; his former wife Donna Royston; and his pet Beau. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, dedicated to Tom's memory, to UnityPoint Health, supporting the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or the Littlest Angels Program.
