He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Knapp and Mary Knapp (Finnegan); and his half-brother Donald Wagner. He is survived by: his children, Gary Knapp, James Knapp and Monica Kirkland (Tom); his grandchildren, Tyler Knapp, Tara Knapp, Miya Kirkland and Brett Kirkland; and his great grandchildren, Gabriel, Aaron, Isabella and Chloe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
