She was predeceased by: her parents, Rupert Schmelzer and Estella Schmelzer (Endregardt); her sons, Kevin Tormey and Joseph Tormey; and her brothers, Daniel, Richard, Paul, Louis and Rupert Schmelzer.

She is survived by: her husband Robert Tormey; her children, Jeffrey Tormey (Jean), Mark Tormey (Carol), Perry Tormey (Marilyn), Brian Tormey (Kris) and Gail Maly (Dean); and her daughter-in-law Kay Tormey. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be gifted in Ruth's name to Agrace HospiceCare or to St. Dennis Catholic Church.
