She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Nelson and Edith Nelson (Biegel); her sister LaVonne Mackin; and her nephews, Timothy Nelson and Christopher Mackin.

She is survived by: her husband Raja Muhammad Hassan; and her siblings, LaVerne Nelson (Darlene), Gary Nelson (Peggy), Jean Groppoli (Tom) and Nancy Bremmer. She is also survived by aunt to her nieces and nephews.
