He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Syrja and Bertha Syrja (Ostrom); his nephew Shane Corning; and his aunts and uncles, Adaline, Wilfred Link, Ernie Ostrom and Bob Link.

He is survived by: his grandson John; his children, Aaryn Ebner (Kyle), Brian Hale (Darla) and Jacob Syrja; his siblings, Jackie Syrja (Jim) and Duane; his nephews, Travis Currier Jessie Wendorf (Angie) and Chris; his grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaleigh, Keagan, Kasen, Braiden, Bella and Skylar; and his close friends, Gee Lynch and Pat Banks. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
