He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Halverson and Grace Halverson (Johnson); his son Jonathan (Rachael); his daughter-in-law Lisa; his brothers, Arnold and Arthur; and his brother-in-law Bruce Nett.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Midthun; his children, Jodi Halverson (David Alme), Jeffrey and Julie Matson (Jim Wedel); his daughter-in-law Rachael (Jeff Smith); his children, Joel (Jackie), Jennifer Hanson (Todd) and Jay (Brenda); and his siblings-in-law, Judy Halverson, Joyce Nett, Kay and Mike Burns. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 ½ great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Carbone Cancer Center or the Tunnels to Towers Organization.
