He is survived by: his parents, Matt Gehl and Jodi Gehl; his sister Chandlyr Gehl; his grandparents, John Gehl, Kathleen Gehl, Gary Schmoldt and Mary Schmoldt; his uncles, Sandy Bartelt, Michelle Esser (Jeff), Mark Gehl, John Gehl (Nikki) and Ken Bartelt; and his friend Andrew Tuten. He is also survived by brother than a friend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carter's name may be made to Glacier's Edge Council, Boy Scouts of America.
