She was predeceased by: her husband Russ; her aunt Carol Barnes (Bill); her uncle Cy Peterman (Edna); and also, Joseffa Hovde and Ingvald Hovde.
She is survived by: her spouse Russell J. Hovde; her children, Martha Halma (Craig) and David Hovde (Betsy); her grandchildren, Alex, Kirsten, Elisa Halma, Lauren, Grace and Michael Hovde (Aprille); her great grandchildren, Olivia Hovde and Presley Hovde; her cousin Paula Bunch (Michael); and her siblings-in-law, Jean Owen, Joanne Piepenburg (Don) and Glenn Hovde (Miriam). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, Betty's family encourages donations in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Lake Geneva Garden Club, or the Wisconsin Historical Society (Black Point Estate).
