He is survived by: his children, Bill Shafer, Tim Shafer, Scott Shafer, Sue Strey (Brian) and Toby Shafer; his grandchildren, Matt Shafer (Alison), Krista Shafer and Mitch Shafer (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Aidan, Aurora, Archer, Griffin and Micah; and his brothers, James "Brownie" Shafer and Michael "Putz" Shafer. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
