He is survived by: his wife Lu Ellen; his daughters, Monica Haefs (Michael), Marisa Gassner (Terry), Natalie Scharschmidt (Thomas) and Rebecca Miller (Garry); his grandchildren, Shannon Zahn (Ryan), Leigh Ramczyk (Rick), Jill Schultis (Nick), Erik Haefs (Beckie), Kurt Haefs (Taylor), David Gassner (Ingrid), Cassandra Kubiskewski (Brett), Matthew Gassner (Kathleen), Callie Christiansen (Scott), Katelyn Bloch, Mark Scharschmidt (Hailey Rusch), Mitch Scharschmidt, Bryce Miller and Brett Miller (Kaylee Maurer); his godson Shawn Reimer; his brother Gerald "Gerry" Reimer; and his siblings-in-law, Michele Reimer, Mary Ann Betz, Donna May Herman, Audrey Buerger, Jean Buerger, Joan Buerger, Michael Buerger and Dean Buerger (Steffie). He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren.
