He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Mason and Carma V. Mason (Woodruff); his son William John; and his nephew Anthony Hoel. He is survived by: his wife Anita Mason (Korish); his children, Bryon (Tammy) of Beaver Dam, Paul (Carie) of Grafton, Kathryn Steers (Kevin) of Lomira, Kimberly Meisenheimer (Jason) of Fond and Lac; his grandchildren, Brittany, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Hannah, Michaela, Austin, Benjamin, Alexander, Eagen, Isabella and Connor; and his siblings, Thomas Mason (JoAnn), Timothy Mason (Cathy), Charles Mason (Lana) and Susan Hoel (John). He is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

In lieu of flowers, a Scholarship Fund will be set up in John's name for The School District of Lomira or Agnesian Hospice – Memorial Fund.
