He is survived by: his children, Gerald Jr. Rufenacht (Nancy) of Reedsburg, Rodney Rufenacht (Kelli) of Reedsburg, Daniel Rufenacht (Lori) of LaValle and Diana Burt of Aurora, IL; his sisters, Kathy Belongia of Broken Arrow, OK and Janice Paul (Chuck) of Madison; and his stepchildren, Teresa Elza Fry (Brian), John Elza (Regina) of Tacoma, WA and Tanya Ernstmeyer (Mark) of Reedsburg. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren.
