With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joyce Ivah Mahlke Herwig Hillestad (Lodi, Wisconsin), who passed away on March 17, 2025 at the age of 101. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Mahlke and Bertha Mahlke (Montross); her husband Earl Hillestad; and her children, Gregory Herwig and Dr. Joan Herwig.
She is survived by: her children, Jill Bjornstad (Nick), Wis, Dr. Steven Herwig (Karen), West, Patricia Treinen (Jan Marlett) of Bradenton, Fla., Brian Herwig (Karen), Randy Herwig (Carol Thompson), Sarah Herwig (Peter Anderson) and Madison; her friend Carole Magilton; and her grandchildren, Scott Bjornstad (Cherie), Neil Bjornstad (Kristin), Christine Boettcher (Peter), Todd Herwig (Marisa), Paige Herwig (Brian Fletcher), Heather Lowe (Darin), Amy Pfaff (Josh), Emily Herwig, Stacey Pomeroy (Glen), Justin Gasser, Kirsten Gasser and Hanna Herwig. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lodi United Methodist Church (130 Locust St, Lodi, WI 53555). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM and from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Garden Bluff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lodi United Methodist Church.
