He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mathews and Clara Mathews (Flansberg); his wife Theresa Mathews; his daughter Karen Francis; and his brother-in-law Dean Schuller.
He is survived by: his son John D. Mathews (Kathy Tommy) of Janesville; his son-in-law Frank Francis of Livingston; his grandchildren, Franklin "Will" Francis (Cindy Molzof), Kerry Beerkircher (Rick), Robin Pitzer (Paul) and John Henry Mathews (Christine); and his sister Sue Schuller of Mena, AR.. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
