He was predeceased by: his parents, Norm Heyden and Ceil Vander Heyden; his son Michael; his parents-in-law, Ed, Margie Spierings and Dorothy Spierings; his siblings-in-law, Carol Spierings, John Kuebler and Gary Weigman; and his niece Allison Eiting.
He is survived by: his wife Jan Spierings; his children, Ellen Vander Heyden (Brett), Laura Berger (Mike) and David Vander Heyden (Valerie); his grandchildren, Oliver, Elliot Berger and Grace Vander Heyden; his sisters, Cecily Kuebler, Mary Morrissey (Bill) and Kathy Jurewicz (John); and his parents-in-law, Virgie Janssen (Gene), Jack Spierings, Mary Weigman, Helen Eting (Bob), Lois Gralapp (Dale) and Jim Spierings (Sue). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials would be appreciated for the Spierings Cancer Foundation/Rock Cancer.
